Dear Village Family,
Last Friday, our Progress Reports were published for our Kindergarten to 8th-grade students and families. As we reflect together on the 2nd Trimester, progress reports provide a valuable opportunity for our teachers, students, and families to connect, review, and encourage the process of learning.
Partnerships with parents benefit the students and value the perspectives they bring to the learning community. They add richness to the community by being actively involved in the life of the school to share decisions, exchange ideas, build on experiences and provide support. The partnerships between home and school provide the foundation to support students' learning, growth, health and well-being, and agency. IBO.org
As a learning community, our conferences are a focused time on each learner through our mission: To fulfill each learner's God-created identity by developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who love God, pursue excellence, live health, and serve others:
- We work together to foster our student's development in God for His excellence, just as Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man,
- We work together to track where our students are in their learning journey to acquire the skills to keep learning in the future. as Dr. Jennifer Aaker succinctly states.
- We work together towards developing a growth mindset…the belief that intelligence and other abilities are malleable and that we can improve them—through effort, seeking help, and trying new strategies.
- We discuss the evidence for your child's progress, what we see at school and what you are working on at home, and how we can work together to support our learners.
We look forward to our time together and are grateful to partner with your family on this learning journey as we find joy in service.
In His Grace,
Derek Cummings
