Dear Village Family,
On Wednesday this week, we enter into Lent, commemorating the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert as He prepared to begin His public ministry.
How you observe lent typically depends on your spiritual background and religious traditions. Similar to many of the traditions are the three pillars of Lent: prayer (renewing our connection with God), fasting (focusing our energies on the spiritual), and almsgiving (sacrificing on behalf of others). For our family, Lent provides a time to pause and reflect, to re-center our lives around God's great calling to love Him and love others.
As a Village family, reflection is a core concept the IB framework through the Learner Profile. The International Baccalaureate® (IB) learner profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. They imply a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them. Each of the IB's programmes is committed to the development of students according to the IB learner profile. The IB learner profile represents our mission in action; learn more here.
So this week, we invite you to join us in reflecting on your year, recalibrating your life around God, and setting a 40-day goal to live His love.
In His Grace,
Derek Cummings
